West Northern Section

In northwestern half of area

Variable 2 to 4, but northerly or northeasterly 3 to 5 at first in west, becoming cyclonic 5 to 7 later. Moderate, becoming rough later in southeast. Rain, drizzle and fog patches, but thundery rain at first in far south. Moderate or good occasionally very poor.

In southeastern half of area

Southerly or southeasterly, becoming cyclonic in west, 4 to 6, veering southerly or southwesterly 5 to 7 later, occasionally gale 8 later in northwest. Moderate or rough. Rain, drizzle and fog patches, but thundery rain at first in far southwest. Moderate, occasionally very poor.

East Central Section

In southeastern half of area

Easterly or northeasterly 3 to 5. Moderate, becoming slight later in far north. Showers, perhaps thundery. Good occasionally poor.

In northwestern half of area

Variable 2 to 4, becoming southerly 4 or 5 for a time in northwest. Moderate. Occasional drizzle, fog patches. Moderate or good occasionally very poor.

West Central Section

Cyclonic 4 to 6, but variable 2 or 3 in southeast. Moderate or rough in northwest, moderate in southeast. Occasional rain, drizzle and fog patches, perhaps thunder at first in far northwest and later in far southwest. Moderate or good occasionally very poor.

Denmark Strait

In eastern half of area

Southerly or southwesterly 3 to 5. Slight or moderate. Occasional rain, drizzle and fog banks becoming fog patches. Moderate to very poor, occasionally good later near iceland.

In western half of area

Variable 3 or less, becoming cyclonic 3 to 5 later. Moderate. Occasional rain, drizzle and fog banks becoming fog patches. Moderate to very poor.

North Iceland

Southwesterly 3 to 5, increasing 5 or 6 in south, occasionally 7 at first to the east of iceland. Slight or moderate, but moderate or rough in far southeast. Fog patches in southeast, otherwise rain, drizzle and fog patches, becoming fog banks for a time. Moderate or good occasionally very poor, becoming moderate to very poor for a time in northwest.

Norwegian Basin

Westerly or southwesterly, but northerly in southeast, 3 to 5. Slight or moderate. Mainly fair. Good occasionally poor.
