Southerly or southwesterly winds will reach storm force 10 in the northern quarter of sea area Faeroes between 020500UTC and 021100UTC, and northwesterly winds will reach storm force 10 in the far northeast of sea area Southeast Iceland between 021000UTC and 021700UTC. Also, cyclonically variable winds will reach storm force 10 or violent storm force 11 after 020900UTC in that part of sea area north Iceland that lies both south of 67 north and east of 15 west. Low 57 north 21 west 974 expected 54 north 11 west 999 by same time. Winds will reach storm force 10 at times between 50 and 150 miles from the centre in the west quadrant until 020500UTC. New low expected 53 north 41 west 987 by that time. southerly or southeasterly winds will reach storm force 10 at times in central and northern parts of West Central Section after 021000UTC, and also in that part of West Northern Section that lies both south of 57 north and east of 35 west after 021700UTC

Cyclonic 6 to gale 8 at first in far southeast, otherwise northerly or northwesterly 7 to severe gale 9, occasionally storm 10 at first in southeast, then backing westerly 4 to 6 except in northeast, then backing southerly 5 to 7 later in far southwest. Very rough or high until later in south, otherwise rough or very rough, but becoming moderate in northwest. Rain or sleet at first in east, perhaps thundery, otherwise squally sleet or snow showers, but becoming fair later in south and west. Moderate or good, becoming poor at times, but occasionally very poor in north. Light icing for a time near the southern Icelandic coast.

West Northern Section

In area to the north of 60 north

Cyclonic 4 to 6, increasing 7 to severe gale 9 for a time in northwest. Slight at first in far northwest, otherwise moderate or rough. Sleet or snow at times, turning to rain or sleet in south. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor. Light or moderate icing developing in northwest, and severe icing developing for a time later in far northwest.

In area to the south of 60 north

Northwesterly 6 to gale 8 at first in east, otherwise westerly or southwesterly 4 to 6, becoming cyclonic mainly southeasterly 7 to severe gale 9 later, occasionally storm 10 later in southeast. Rough or very rough, becoming very rough or high later. Wintry showers, then rain or sleet. Moderate or poor, occasionally good at first.

East Central Section

In eastern half of the area

Cyclonic becoming northwesterly 6 to gale 8, increasing severe gale 9 for a time at first in north, veering northerly 4 to 6 later in south but becoming variable 2 to 4 later in north. Very rough or high. Rain or showers, squally, thundery or wintry at times, but becoming fair later. Moderate or poor, occasionally good.

In western half of the area

Northwesterly 7 to severe gale 9 decreasing 4 to 6, then backing southerly 5 to 7 later, but increasing gale 8 later in far west. High, becoming rough or very rough. Rain or showers, squally, thundery or wintry at times, but becoming fair, then rain later in far west. Moderate or poor becoming moderate or good.

West Central Section

In eastern half of the area

Northwesterly 7 to severe gale 9 backing southerly or southwesterly 4 to 6, then southerly or southeasterly 7 to severe gale 9 later, occasionally storm 10 later except in south. Very rough or high becoming rough or very rough. Squally showers then fair, then rain later. Moderate or poor, occasionally good.

In western half of the area

Denmark Strait

In area to the west of 30 west

Variable 2 to 4 becoming cyclonic 4 to 6, then increasing 7 to severe gale 9 later in west. Slight or moderate, occasionally rough later in far south. Mainly fair, then sleet or snow at times. Good, becoming moderate or good, occasionally very poor. Light or moderate icing developing, with temperatures ms03 to ms06, but severe icing developing for a time later in far west, with temperatures ms07 or ms08.

In area to the east of 30 west

Northerly or northeasterly 6 to gale 8 backing northwesterly 4 to 6, then occasionally 7 again later in far east. Moderate or rough. Snow showers. Good, occasionally very poor. Light or moderate icing, with temperatures ms02 to ms05.

North Iceland

In area to the north of 70 north

Mainly cyclonic 4 to 6, but northerly 6 to gale 8 in far northwest, and then increasing 6 to gale 8 later in far south. Moderate or rough, becoming very rough later in southeast. Snow at times, then rain or sleet later in southeast. Good, occasionally very poor, becoming moderate to very poor later in southeast. Light or moderate icing developing later in far southwest, mainly near the ice, with temperatures ms02 to ms05.

In area to the south of 70 north

Cyclonic 4 or 5 increasing 6 to gale 8, then increasing severe gale 9 to violent storm 11 later in south. Moderate or rough, becoming very rough or high later except in far west. Rain or sleet until later in east, otherwise sleet or snow at times. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor. Light or moderate icing at times in east, with temperatures ms02 to ms05, but severe icing developing later in northeast near the ice, with temperatures ms06 to ms08.

Norwegian Basin

Southerly or southeasterly 2 to 4 at first in east, otherwise southeasterly 5 to 7, occasionally gale 8 in west, then veering southerly or southwesterly 6 to gale 8 except in far northeast, increasing severe gale 9 at times to the west of 06 east. Moderate or rough, becoming very rough or high except in far northeast. Fair at first in east, otherwise rain for a time, then showers in west, wintry later in far west. Moderate or good, becoming moderate or poor except in far northeast.

Outlook for following 24 hours

Hurricane force winds expected in Denmark Strait. Violent storm force winds expected in West Northern Section and north Iceland. Severe gales expected in Southeast Iceland, East Northern Section, East Central Section, West Central Section and Norwegian Basin. Gales expected in Rockall, Bailey and Faeroes.
