West Northern Section

Denmark Strait

In area west of 34 west

Westerly becoming cyclonic 5 to 7, occasionally gale 8 in west, then northeasterly gale 8 to storm 10 later, increasing violent storm 11 at times later in far west. Moderate or rough becoming rough or very rough later. Fair then snow. Good becoming poor or very poor. Light to moderate icing with temperatures ms03 to ms06, then occasionally severe later with temperatures ms06 to ms07.

In rest of area

Cyclonic 6 to gale 8, becoming variable 2 to 4, then easterly 6 to gale 8 later in south. Moderate or rough but rough or very rough in south. Occasional snow. Good occasionally very poor. Moderate or severe icing at first in far northeast with temperatures ms08 to ms11. Occasional light or moderate icing in west, with temperatures ms02 to ms05.

North Iceland

Cyclonic becoming northwesterly later, 6 to gale 8, occasionally severe gale 9 at first in southeast, becoming westerly or northwesterly 3 to 5 later in west. Moderate or rough in west, rough or very rough in east. Occasional snow, mainly north. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor. Light or moderate icing north of 67 north throughout, with temperatures ms03 to ms06. Severe or very severe icing in far northwest until later, with temperatures ms09 to ms12.

Norwegian Basin

Westerly or southwesterly 6 to gale 8, decreasing 4 to 6, becoming cyclonic 5 to 7 later. Rough or very rough. Rain at first in southeast, then wintry showers. Moderate or good, occasionally poor at first in southeast, otherwise good occasionally poor.

Outlook for following 24 hours

Violent storms are expected in Denmark Strait. Storms are expected in West Central Section. Severe gales are expected in Bailey, Faeroes, Southeast Iceland and East Northern Section. Gales are expected in Rockall, East Central Section, West Central Section and north Iceland, with a risk of gales in Shannon.
