In southwestern half of the area

West Northern Section

In the far northwestern corner of area

Cyclonic becoming mainly easterly or northeasterly, 6 to gale 8, occasionally 5 at first, increasing gale 8 to storm 10, occasionally violent storm 11 later. Rough or very rough, becoming very rough or high, occasionally very high later. Sleet or snow. Moderate to very poor. Light or moderate icing at times.

In the northeastern corner of area

Cyclonic, mainly easterly or southeasterly 5 to 7, increasing 7 to severe gale 9, rough, becoming very rough, occasionally high in north. Fair at first, then rain or sleet. Moderate or poor, occasionally good at first.

Cyclonic 6 to gale 8, occasionally severe gale 9 for a time in north, becoming westerly or southwesterly 5 to 7 later. Rough or very rough. Occasional rain or drizzle, but sleet or snow in west, then squally wintry showers later. Moderate or poor, becoming good, occasionally poor later.

East Central Section

Cyclonic 5 to 7, occasionally 4 later, moderate or rough. Rain at times, perhaps thundery in west. Moderate or good, occasionally poor.

West Central Section

Cyclonic 5 to 7, occasionally gale 8 until later, becoming mainly westerly or southwesterly 4 to 6, occasionally 7 later in northwest. Rough or very rough. Thundery rain, then squally wintry showers later in west. Moderate or good, occasionally poor.

Denmark Strait

In western half of area

Easterly or northeasterly 5 to 7, but 7 to severe gale 9 near greenland, increasing severe gale 9 or storm 10, occasionally violent storm 11 later in west. Rough or very rough, occasionally moderate at first in east, becoming very rough or high, occasionally very high later in west. Rain, sleet or freezing rain at times in far west, otherwise mainly fair. Moderate or good, but poor or very poor in far west. Light or moderate icing within 150 miles of the greenland coast in west, with temperatures ms02 to ms05, but occasionally severe icing later near the ice in far west from 061400utc, with temperatures ms06 to ms09.

In eastern half of area

Easterly or northeasterly 3 to 5, becoming variable 2 to 4 for a time. Slight or moderate. Mainly fair, fog patches. Moderate or good, occasionally poor.

North Iceland

In area north of 72 north

Cyclonic 4 to 6, becoming variable 2 to 4, then southerly or southeasterly 3 to 5 later. Moderate or rough, becoming slight or moderate. Snow showers, fog patches. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor. Light or moderate icing at first near ice edge with temperatures ms02 to ms05.

In rest of area

Cyclonic, becoming mainly easterly or northeasterly 5 to 7, occasional gale 8 until later in east and south, decreasing 3 to 5 later, moderate or rough, occasionally very rough until later in east and south. Snow or snow showers. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor. Light or moderate icing until later in west with temperatures ms02 to ms05.

Norwegian Basin

Cyclonic 4 to 6, decreasing 3 at times, occasionally 7 later in west. Mainly moderate, occasionally slight in east and rough in west. Sleet or snow showers. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor.

Outlook for following 24 hours

Violent storm force winds expected in Denmark Strait and far northwest of West Northern Section. Severe gales expected in East Central Section. Gales expected in Sole, Rockall, Faeroes, Southeast Iceland, East Northern Section, West Central Section and north Iceland.
