The brisk north to northeasterly breeze currently affecting the far southeast will gradually ease during Wednesday leaving the United Kingdom in a mostly slack airflow. However a strengthening southerly wind will develop across northern Scotland as an area of low pressure approaches from the Atlantic.

Cape Wrath to Rattray Head including Orkney - Strong wind warning
