General situation

The strong east to northeasterly flow currently affecting central parts of the United Kingdom will gradually transfer southwards during the next 24 hours. A transient ridge of high pressure will follow southwards across Scotland and this will eventually introduce a cold and showery northerly flow.

Cape Wrath to Rattray Head including Orkney - Strong wind warning

24 hour forecast: East becoming variable 2 to 4, becoming northwest 4 to 6 later. Slight or moderate, becoming rough later near northern Orkney. Showers. Good, occasionally moderate later.

Outlook for the following 24 hours: Northerly or northwesterly 4 to 6, occasionally 7 in east. Slight or moderate in Moray Firth, elsewhere mainly moderate or rough, but occasionally very rough later near northern Orkney. Showers, becoming wintry at times. Good, occasionally moderate in west and poor in east.


Rattray Head to Berwick upon Tweed - Strong wind warning
