A transient ridge of high pressure will give some fair weather and lighter winds for a time on Saturday, but more rain and stronger winds are expected later and through Sunday, as Atlantic frontal troughs encroach from the west.

Outlook for 12 Hours from 0000 UTC on Sunday 01 Mar until 1200 UTC on Sunday 01 Mar: South 3 to 5 backing southeast 5 or 6. Moderate or rough, but slight at first just southeast of shetland. Fair. Good.


Channel Islands - Strong wind warning

24 hour forecast: Westerly 4 to 5, decreasing 2 to 4 by dusk, backing southwest to south 4 to 5 by midnight, locally 6 later. Rather rough mid-channel at times, otherwise slight to moderate with a low to moderate swell. Rain and drizzle in the far west by midnight, becoming widespread by dawn, then patchy and light late morning. Good to very good, becoming moderate locally poor overnight.
