General situation
An area of low pressure will continue to move southeastwards, away from Scotland and into the North Sea, bringing some rain, showers and strong winds to many areas, with gales likely in parts of the north today and Wednesday morning. A ridge of high pressure will then move in from the west on Wednesday bringing more settled conditions.
Cape Wrath to Rattray Head including Orkney - Strong wind warning
24 hour forecast: Cyclonic 5 to 7, occasionally gale 8 in far southeast, becoming northwesterly 4 to 6, backing westerly or northwesterly 3 or 4 later. Slight or moderate, but moderate or rough at first in northwest and smooth or slight later in Moray Firth. Showers, squally at first, becoming mainly fair later. Good, occasionally poor at first.
