The Met Office app is being refreshed
We’re upgrading our weather app to make our forecasts and warnings clearer and easier to use.
Since 2016, our Met Office app has kept millions of people safe and informed about the weather. But technology moves fast, and the old infrastructure had become increasingly complex making it harder for us to keep improving the experience for everyone.
Users told us they want a more modern and less cluttered design that helps them get key weather information quickly and easily. We’ve listened and built from the ground up.
Our refreshed app uses a modern framework for faster updates and a unified design across iOS and Android. It’s the same trusted weather information in a clearer, easier-to-read format.
What are the features of the refreshed app?
With the new-look app you can:

Download a daily or hourly widget to enable you to see the weather forecast from your phone's homescreen

Get instant alerts to warnings for your saved location and access all other UK weather warnings via a single click

Check the weather in your area for the next hour and up to 7 days ahead

Save your favourite locations for quick access and notifications

See pollen levels and types during the UK pollen season

Explore interactive maps for cloud, rain, and temperature over the next 5 days

View detailed information, including feels-like temperature, wind, humidity, visibility, UV level

What's coming next?
We’ll continue to introduce more features to the app over the coming months, based on user needs. These will include the addition of regional and long-range text forecasts.
How can I get the refreshed app?
Users of our legacy app will receive the update automatically, if they have automatic updates enabled. Otherwise, you’ll need to manually update the app to get the new version.
Please ensure your device automatically updates apps to receive the latest, ongoing updates as soon as they are released.
If you don’t already have our app, the new version will be available to download from the app stores from 14 January. App Store (Apple) and Google Play (Android).
How can I provide feedback?
You can give feedback directly from the app via buttons at the top and bottom of the screen. Your feedback helps shape the future development of our app.
