Sunny start for many places, although cloudier across southeastern areas at first. Through the afternoon cloud increases, but still some sunny intervals occur, followed by sunny periods for this evening. Light onshore breezes will keep coasts slightly cooler than inland. Maximum temperature 25 °C.

Tonight:

Largely clear, with only a little patchy cloud, and light winds away from the north Kent coast. Also becoming cooler than many recent nights. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Sunday:

Areas of cloud for the morning and at first in the afternoon, then most places gradually becoming sunny. Rather warm or warm for most places, highest temperatures across Hampshire. Maximum temperature 25 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Remaining warm with light winds and dry. Possibly cloudy at times Monday and Tuesday, then Wednesday sunnier conditions are likely.

For much of the UK, dry at first with sunny spells. Northern and northwestern areas will be cloudier with occasional patchy rain or drizzle. Towards the weekend and perhaps into the start of next week, perhaps a more unsettled period with rain at times, especially across northern parts of the UK. This rain may very well reach southern areas too, but could be light and patchy here. Confidence becomes lower as we head into next week, but there are signs that high pressure will return, which means dry conditions would resume, especially in the south. Winds will be mostly light or moderate, occasionally fresh around northern coasts. Temperatures are expected to be near or above normal, warmest in the south, perhaps becoming very warm again by the start of August.

Confidence is always low at these lead times, especially during the summer, but signs are that high pressure will return to bring settled and mainly dry weather, especially across the south. While some showers or longer spells of rain may still affect northern parts at times early in the period, these are expected to become less frequent if dry and warm conditions extend northwards. Although most areas may see a good deal of dry weather with sunny spells, occasional showers or even thunderstorms cannot be ruled out. Temperatures are likely to remain above average overall, with the potential for further hot spells, particularly in the south. Winds are expected to be generally light or moderate, and stronger winds possible around coastal areas at times.
