There will be further heavy showers around this evening, perhaps accompanied by thunder. Some showers continuing overnight, but western counties should become mainly dry. A moderate northerly breeze developing. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Thursday:

Quite breezy and feeling fresher with some showers, these mostly light and moving away quite briskly. Rather cloudy but a few sunny intervals. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Remaining on the cool side but a lot of dry weather, though with a few light showers. Quite cloudy, best of any sunshine around the coasts.

UK long range weather forecast

Largely dry and settled early next week as a ridge of high pressure continues to extend across the country. Likely turning more unsettled during the week and through to the turn of the month as low pressure becomes more dominant. This bringing showers or longer spells of rain, perhaps heavy, to most if not all areas at times though still some sunny interludes. Possibly windy at times too. Temperatures likely near to average though varying with some short-lived warm and humid spells possible, especially in the south.

A rather unsettled start to autumn is most likely with all areas probably seeing a mixture of showers or longer spells rain interspersed with drier interludes. Temperatures likely varying around average, some warm or hot spells are possible but unlikely prolonged in early September. By mid-September, there may be an increase in the extent of drier, more settled weather, especially in the south and east, though signals become very weak.
