Today:

The morning will begin dry with bright or sunny spells. Cloud will soon push in from the southwest with outbreaks of rain, some heavy, following northeast by the afternoon. Winds strengthening from late morning with a risk of coastal gales. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy with outbreaks of rain, some heavy in the north at first. The rain will turn to scattered showers from the late evening. Strong winds easing. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Saturday:

The morning will begin cloudy and mostly dry with bright spells. Scattered showers will spread northeast from the afternoon. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Unsettled conditions continue through this period with bands of heavy rain passing northeast Sunday morning and Monday night. Bright spells and mainly dry Monday.

A continuation of the broadly unsettled conditions is likely through this period. One area of low pressure, intiially close to northwestern areas at the start of this period, should soon clear away, but it is likely that further areas of low pressure will develop over the North Atlantic. These will likely progress eastwards towards the UK, but could become quite slow-moving in the vicinity of the UK, as they butt up against higher pressure to the east and north. As a result, the wettest conditions are more likely in western areas, but all parts could see heavy rain at times. Strong winds are also likely at times, again more likely in the west. Temperatures are expected to remain close to or above normal.

This period is likely to be changeable, with further spells of rain or showers and some strong winds at times, especially in the west and northwest. Hill snow is also a possibility, mainly in the north. However, there is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather, compared to the unsettled conditions we are likely to see through the first couple of weeks of December. This will increase the chances of overnight fog and frost. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
