Today:

A largely dry and sunny day, but feeling bitterly cold in a fresh northerly breeze. Scattered rain, sleet and snow showers across the Isles and perhaps western Argyll. Maximum temperature 2 °C.

Tonight:

A dry evening and night for most with lengthy clear spells. Scattered rain, sleet and snow showers continuing across Angus the Isles. Minimum temperature -4 °C.

Thursday:

A largely dry, cold day with plenty of crisp sunshine. A few isolated rain or sleet showers and likely across the Isles, mainly in the morning. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Cold dry start to Friday. Rain and hill snow spread east later. Less cold over the weekend with a mix of dry spells, some showers or longer spells of rain.

Atlantic weather fronts will continue to spread east bringing spells of rain or showers, potentially quite widely. Over subsequent days showery conditions will likely continue but there will be some brighter spells at times. There is also a chance of Atlantic frontal systems moving in from the west at times and temporary periods of northerly flow that may lead to some wintry showers. Temperatures will be a little below normal. A westerly dominated pattern will likely persist through to the end of November with outbreaks of rain or showers and temperatures near to or a little below normal. There could however still be some wintry showers at times in the north. Areas of low pressure may bring longer spells of rain and periods of strong winds at times.

Whilst there is a lot of uncertainty as to the nature of weather affecting the UK into December, it looks likely that it will become more settled for a time with low pressure systems being steered to the south of the UK. There is however the possibility for some periods of rain or wintry precipitation at times. Temperatures are probably near to or a little below normal but there is a chance of winter hazards including snow at times for some.
