A cloudier start to the day is possible for some, but sunny spells soon developing. Mainly sunny by the afternoon and turning very warm. Breezy, especially in southern coastal regions. Maximum temperature 27 °C.

Tonight:

A warm and sunny evening followed by a dry night with generally clear skies. The odd mist patch developing by dawn. A slightly fresher night for most. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Sunday:

Another dry day with blue skies for many. Temperatures quickly rising in the strong sunshine. Breezy at times but feeling very warm. Maximum temperature 27 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Breezy in places on Monday and with a chance of showers or thunderstorms in the west, though staying dry for most. Mainly dry thereafter with sunny spells. Warm at times.

High pressure is expected to drift to the northwest at the start of this period. This will allow a north to northeasterly airstream to affect much of the UK, leading to rather cool conditions in some northern and eastern areas. As a vigorous area of low pressure emerges into the North Atlantic by the following weekend, connected to what is currently Tropical Storm Erin, high pressure may re-build across the UK for a time, bringing widely fine and dry conditions and for some, an increase in temperatures, relative to the previous few days. The final week of August may see Atlantic weather systems progress over the UK, with a small chance of widely wetter and windier weather developing, though there is much uncertainty in this aspect of the forecast.

Confidence in the details through this period is low. However, low pressure and therefore unsettled or changeable weather looks more likely, and with this comes the potential for stronger winds at times as well. Whether this takes the form of further low pressure systems running in from the Atlantic, or a rather more slowly evolving weather pattern is less clear. Temperatures are likely be near to above average overall.
