Any early rain clearing to leave some sunny spells. Turning more unsettled into the afternoon with heavy showery rain sweeping through accompanied by strong winds. Mild. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

A calmer interlude to start Friday before turning wet and windy into Saturday morning. Turning colder with a mixture of sunny spells and scattered blustery showers over the weekend.

High pressure looks like largely dominating the UK's weather at first, bringing plenty of dry but rather cold weather, though a showery easterly or northeasterly flow may affect the south. Overnight frosts along with morning fog patches are probable for some regions. By the middle of next week, conditions may turn a little more unsettled for a while, with a chance of some rain moving southeast. Through to the end of this period, there is an increased chance of spells of wetter and windier weather returning, these more likely in the north with southern areas having a better chance of more prolonged drier, more settled weather.
