Early cloud will soon lift and clear, allowing sunny spells to develop from the west. Feeling warm in the sunshine, especially into the afternoon, however a few showers may graze the south Welsh coastline. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Tonight:

Coastal showers slip away to the south this evening, with most places becoming dry overnight. Increasingly cloudy for many, though clear spells remain in the west. Cool in rural spots. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Wednesday:

A few spots of rain may be felt around dawn, however most places will stay dry as warm sunshine burns away the morning cloud. Winds remaining light. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Remaining dry and settled for the rest of the week with a mixture of cloud and sunny periods. Warm in the sunshine, but turning chilly in rural spots overnight.

High pressure is likely to be the dominant feature at first, bringing widely fine and dry weather whilst an on-shore flow leads to rather cool conditions in parts of the north east. Whilst this is happening a deep area of low pressure is likely to develop in the North Atlantic. This is linked to Hurricane Erin, which is expected to start to bring a change in weather to the UK, though the timing of this is uncertain. From early to mid-week, high pressure may become increasingly eroded from the west as low pressure and frontal systems start to move in from the Atlantic, leading to more changeable conditions with spells of rain through the remainder of the week. Temperatures likely warm or very warm to start before trending towards average.

Confidence in the details through this period is low. However, low pressure and therefore unsettled or changeable weather looks more likely. There will be the potential for periods of stronger winds at times as well. Whether this takes the form of further low pressure systems running in from the Atlantic, or a more slowly evolving weather pattern with the potential for heavy showers is less clear. Temperatures are likely to be near to, or slightly above average overall.
