Generally overcast, with early hill fog gradually lifting, although limited bright or sunny intervals may eventually develop for eastern areas. The cloud will be thick enough to bring patchy light rain and drizzle at times, most likely across western areas. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Predominantly dry and overcast, with hill fog gradually developing. However, some clear intervals may occur across eastern areas, whilst further west there is a chance of occasional patchy light rain. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Sunday:

Mainly dry and overcast at first, with hill fog. Through the day brighter conditions gradually develop, and sunny spells develop for many areas leading to above average temperatures occurring. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Monday overcast with patchy drizzle and early hill fog. Tuesday becoming brighter with perhaps showers arriving. Wednesday breezy with sunshine and scattered showers. Temperatures close to or slightly above average.

The first part of this period will continue to see the UK located at the interface between high pressure across Europe and low pressure over the North Atlantic. As such, western areas will likely see spells of rain at times, along with stronger winds, whereas eastern parts should see more in the way of drier interludes, though even here, some rain is possible from time to time. Towards the middle of March, there is a signal for unsettled conditions to perhaps become more widespread, with all parts seeing a higher chance of rain and stronger winds. Throughout, temperatures should overall be a little above average for most areas.

The start of this period could see unsettled conditions fairly widely across the UK, with spells of rain and strong winds affecting many areas at times, although western areas likely remain wettest. Then, whilst confidence in the details is low, there is the potential for weather patterns to become slower-moving by late March, with unsettled weather possibly becoming more confined to parts of the south west, as areas towards the north turn drier. Overall, temperatures will probably end up near to average, and at present there are indications of a cooler spell towards the turn of the month.
