Any showers fading to leave a mostly dry night with variable cloud. Turning locally chilly, with some patchy fog and rural frost forming. Cloud increasing from the south later, bringing some showery rain to the west towards daybreak. Light winds. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Friday:

A cloudy start in places with showers. Cloud breaking to give bright or sunny spells into the afternoon but with locally heavy showers in the north. Feeling warm in sunshine. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Saturday, mostly dry with warm bright spells. Chance of showers moving from south later and into Sunday. Becoming breezy and noticeably cooler. A few showers Monday, breezy and feeling cool.

Changeable and at times rather unsettled conditions look to dominate through the middle part of May, with low pressure often close by. This means periods of rain or showers, some of which could be heavy, for many places, though some drier interludes are also expected. For the most part, temperatures are likely to be close to or perhaps a little below normal, with winds often blowing from a northwesterly quadrant. By the end of this period, pressure may increase towards the southwest, which could bring more in the way of dry weather here.

Low pressure systems are likely to still be close by to north or northeast of the UK at the start of this period, with a continuation of changeable and at times windy conditions most likely here. There will however, probably be some dry and warm interludes, these more likely towards the south initially, but these may become rather more widespread through the latter part of this period. Temperatures through the latter part of May and into early June may end up being above average overall.
