Any showers fading to leave a dry night, with variable cloud and some lengthy clear spells. Turning locally chilly, with some patchy fog and rural frost forming. Light winds. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Friday:

After a chilly start, cloud will increase from the south to bring some outbreaks of showery rain during the morning. Showers, locally heavy, becoming more widespread in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Fine and dry with warm sunny spells Saturday. A narrow band of rain moves south on Sunday, with brighter skies following. A few showers Monday. Often breezy and feeling cooler.

Changeable and at times rather unsettled conditions look to dominate through the middle part of May, with low pressure often close by. This means periods of rain or showers, some of which could be heavy, for many places, though some drier interludes are also expected. For the most part, temperatures are likely to be close to or perhaps a little below normal, though depending on the position of low pressure relative to the UK, there is the chance of brief warmer mroe humid interludes extending north from the near continent. With this would be the chance of some thunderstorms, these most likely affecting parts of England and Wales.

Low pressure systems are likely to still be close by to the UK at the start of this period. This means showers or longer spells of rain are likely at times, these heavy in places, with the wettest conditions probably towards the northwest by this stage. There will, however, probably be some dry and warm interludes, these more likely towards the south, although temperatures are likely to be close to normal overall. Later in the period, more settled and drier conditions may develop, as high pressure establishes itself over or to the west of the UK, with temperatures perhaps rising a little above normal, especially in the west. Should this happen, eastern parts may be on the cool side with a predominant flow off the North Sea.
