Rise in carbon dioxide off track for limiting global warming to 1.5°C
The increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO₂) is now incompatible with IPCC pathways which remain below 1.5°C, a Met Office study finds.

Rather cloudy and cold.
A largely cloudy and cold day, mainly dry but with the odd spot of drizzle possible. Any cloud breaks will be limited, perhaps slightly more likely in the south and west to end the day. Light winds throughout. Maximum temperature 4 °C.
Extensive low cloud largely holding during the evening and overnight, however a slight frost is likely where cloud breaks do develop. Winds remaining light. Minimum temperature -1 °C.
Cloudy for much of the day, with further isolated drizzle possible. Rather cold again, although temperatures perhaps creeping upwards later with the best of any limited brighter intervals. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
Fairly benign start to the period, with low cloud and freezing fog. Initially remaining rather cold, however temperatures probably trending slightly upwards in more unsettled conditions perhaps arriving into Thursday.
