Mild and humid to start, as a weakening band of rain moves southeast. Becoming drier, brighter and fresher later, with a breeze and some warm sunny spells. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

A changeable period, with nearer-normal temperatures than of late. Often fine but breezy, with rain most likely on Thursday.

The weather will remain changeable. Occasional rain or showers will push in from the North Atlantic, most frequent across northern and western parts of the UK, accompanied by strong winds at times. However, there will also be some reasonably dry and more settled periods in between these systems, especially across southern areas. There is a chance settled weather may expand further northwards during the final week of September. Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall, but there is scope for some rather warm days at times, as well as relatively cool nights which may bring the occasional grass frost.

A changeable theme is likely to continue, with further spells of rain and showers arriving from the North Atlantic, perhaps accompanied by strong winds at times. These are more likely to affect northern and western parts, but could also affect the wider UK if such systems push east or southeastwards. Some settled spells are also possible during this period, these most likely in the south. Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall.
