Tonight:

Cloud and showers across East Anglia persist into the night, easing off through the early hours. Elsewhere a cold night with clear spells leading to a rural frost developing. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Thursday:

Variable cloud for much of the day but staying dry, with occasional bright or sunny intervals and temperatures higher than Wednesday. Cooler for coastal areas in breezier conditions. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Friday brings sunny spells and scattered showers. Confidence lowers into the weekend, though rain or showers are likely on Saturday at some point. Sunday appears drier, with occasional sunny spells.

Changeable and at times rather unsettled conditions look to dominate through the middle part of May, with low pressure often close by. This means periods of rain or showers, some of which could be heavy, for many places, though some drier interludes are also expected. For the most part, temperatures are likely to be close to or perhaps a little below normal, though depending on the position of low pressure relative to the UK, there is the chance of brief warmer mroe humid interludes extending north from the near continent. With this would be the chance of some thunderstorms, these most likely affecting parts of England and Wales.

Low pressure systems are likely to dominate across the UK at the start of this period. This means showers or longer spells of rain are likely at times, heavy in places, with the wettest conditions probably towards the northwest. There will, however, probably be some dry and warm interludes, these more likely towards the south, although temperatures are likely to be close to normal overall. Later in the period, more settled and drier conditions may develop, as high pressure potentially establishes itself to the north or west of the UK, with temperatures perhaps rising a little above normal, especially in the west or northwest. Should this happen, eastern parts may be on the cool side with a predominant flow off the North Sea.
