Cloud, patchy rain spread southeast this morning. Drier, brighter afternoon.

Today:

Cloudy with patchy light rain spreading southeast through the morning. Then turning drier and brighter for a time into the afternoon before increasing amounts of cloud again later. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Tonight:

At first a mainly dry but rather cloudy evening. Cloud becomes extensive overnight, thickening to give little rain or drizzle at times, perhaps briefly heavy in the north. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Sunday:

A fairly cloudy day with some bright spells between a few scattered showers. Brisk winds. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

An changeable, often cloudy period with the risk of rain or showers. Rain possibly heavy at times, but becoming generally drier and brighter later Wednesday.

Dry at first across the south with long sunny periods, where it will also be very warm. Cloudier in the north with some outbreaks of rain, which could be heavy in places, and temperatures nearer normal. It will probably become more changeable thereafter, with potential for an area of low pressure to move close to or across the UK at the end of July or early August. This could bring spells of heavy rain and perhaps some strong winds for a time. It may become more settled again toward the end of the first week of August.

Dry and settled conditions will probably dominate much of this period with high pressure patterns tending to affect the UK. This may be interrupted at times by Atlantic frontal systems, especially in the north, or thunderstorms in the south. However, overall rainfall amounts will likely be below normal. Temperatures will probably be above normal and some spells of hot weather and heatwaves are possible, especially in the south.
