Showers developing in east on Tuesday. Dry, brighter in west.

This Evening and Tonight:

Outbreaks of rain during this evening, heavy at times. Becoming mainly dry with clearing skies overnight. Isolated light showers around the west coast and winds falling light. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Tuesday:

West coast will be dry and bright, some long sunny spells across northwestern Argyll. Elsewhere mostly cloudy with the chance of a few showers in the afternoon, mainly east. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Bright or sunny spells with occasional showers on Wednesday and Thursday. Windy with outbreaks of rain on Friday.

Following a fine couple of days in the run up to this period, away from the far northwest where more persistent rain is expected to develop, a transition to something more unsettled countrywide looks likely. Cloud and rain associated with an Atlantic frontal system and area of low pressure is likely to sweep south and east, with rain always most persistent on western hills whilst some eastern areas in shelter could see warm and humid brighter breaks. Likely turning cooler and more showery later in the weekend and into next week, followed by a changeable pattern with further areas of cloud and rain and brighter, more settled spells in-between. Temperatures are likely to be around average overall, with an increasing chance of warmth in the south as the period progresses.

Changeable conditions with a predominantly northwest to southeast split in temperature and rainfall, and the potential for further occasional episodes of hot weather and thundery outbreaks, are considered likely to gradually give way to something more settled and dry overall through the second half of July. Temperatures are likely to be above average, with the greatest chance of very warm or hot spells in the south or southeast.
