Headline:

Central Belt and south dry on Saturday, showers across Argyll.

This Evening and Tonight:

Any rain soon clearing in the early evening, followed by increasingly clear spells and a few showers, these mostly fading out overnight. Brisk southwesterly winds along the Argyll coast. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Saturday:

Bright or sunny spells and just the odd shower to start. Cloudier in the afternoon with some showers over Argyll, staying dry with bright spells elsewhere. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Cloudy and quite breezy with occasional rain on Sunday and Monday, especially across Argyll. Rain clearing southeast Tuesday morning, followed by bright spells and a few showers.

Cloudy with some rain in the far southeast and heavy showers in the far north, but otherwise a good deal of fine and dry weather at the start of this period. This will quickly change as weather systems move in from the Atlantic at the end of next week and over the following weekend. These will bring spells of rain or showers to most areas, heavy at times (especially in the northwest) with some strong winds. Into the middle of the month, similarly changeable conditions are most likely, with a mixture of Atlantic weather systems interspersed with some drier, brighter spells. Temperatures will likely be near to or slightly below normal at first, maybe becoming warmer later.

The second half of October will probably maintain a changeable pattern overall with weather systems often moving in from the Atlantic. These will bring showers or longer spells of rain, with the wettest and windiest weather in the northwest, drier in the southeast. There is a chance that a period of more widely dry conditions could develop for a time, but confidence in the details of this is low. Temperatures will probably be above average overall.
