Cloudy along the west coast and over the Western Isles at first in the morning otherwise the day will be dry with sunny spells spreading west by the afternoon. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

Dry conditions will continue through the evening and overnight. Cloud will spread to eastern parts at times. It will be chilly in sheltered glens and clear skies in the west. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Thursday:

A chilly and sunny start in the west, cloudy and milder east. A dry day with increasing sunny spells. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Mostly cloudy and dry with sunny spells Friday through to Sunday. A few light showers over high ground Saturday and more widely Sunday.

High pressure is likely to be the dominant feature at first, which would bring widely fine and dry weather for the Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend. Whilst this is happening, low pressure in the Atlantic is expected to bring a change in weather to the UK, though the timing of any specific features is currently uncertain. From early to mid-week, high pressure is likely to become increasingly eroded from the west as areas of low pressure and frontal systems start to move in from the Atlantic, leading to more changeable conditions with spells of rain through the remainder of the week and the following weekend. Temperatures likely warm or very warm to start before quickly trending towards average.

Confidence in the details through this period is low. However, low pressure and therefore unsettled or changeable weather looks more likely. There will be the potential for periods of stronger winds at times as well. Whether this takes the form of further low pressure systems running in from the Atlantic, or a more slowly evolving weather pattern with the potential for heavy showers is less clear.
