Bright spells and scattered showers feed in from the northwest through the day, these showers occasionally heavy and turning thundery at times. Showers most frequent over north Argyll. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

Clear spells and scattered showers through the evening, a few of these heavy at first. Showers increasingly confined to the coast overnight with longer clear spells developing. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Wednesday:

Dry and bright for many in the morning, but a few showers around the isles. Cloudier afternoon with some showers before a band of heavy rain pushes east in evening. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Frequent heavy and blustery showers on Thursday. Showers easing Friday morning, becoming dry and bright, before a band of rain spreads east later. Bright spells and scattered showers on Saturday.

The first part of this period will likely see a build of pressure across much of the UK, with Atlantic weather fronts becoming more confined to northern and northwestern areas. As such, plenty of dry and increasingly warm and perhaps rather humid weather will develop, whilst the bulk of the rain and possible strong winds are more likely to affect the northwest of the UK. Many areas may remain mostly settled towards the end of September, but there is the possibility of areas of low pressure moving in from the Atlantic bringing more widely unsettled conditions.

More changeable weather may become established more widely as we move into October, though parts of the west and northwest are perhaps most likely to see wet and windy conditions at times. As is not untypical as we move towards mid October, deep low pressure systems could bring occasional periods of very strong winds. Temperatures are likely to remain above normal overall, though brief cooler interludes are also possible.
