Today:

It will be a cloudy day with outbreaks of mostly light rain, sleet and hill snow, slowly moving southwards through the day. Parts of northern Argyll becoming dry by late afternoon. Breezy near the coast. Feeling cold. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy with rain, sleet and hill snow clearing to the south through the night to leave all places dry by dawn, some clear intervals developing in the north. Cold. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Friday:

Perhaps the odd wintry shower possible in the east in the morning, but otherwise it will be a dry day with long sunny spells developing. Feeling cold. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Dry on Saturday with sunshine, before turning cloudier later. Winds strengthen on Sunday as a band of rain and snow spreads eastwards. Mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain on Monday.

Showers or longer spells of rain are expected as Atlantic low pressure systems dominate in the vicinity of the UK. Some heavy rain is likely in places, probably focussed on western hills, with some snow at times in the north, mainly on high ground. Strong winds are possible at times, especially around coasts. Temperatures will probably be near normal. Later in the period, there is a chance that drier, more settled conditions may begin to develop.
