A few bright or sunny spells otherwise rather cloudy. Mainly dry with just a few scattered showers, these mainly affecting coastal Argyll and perhaps South Lanarkshire. Lighter winds. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Some late sunshine then a dry night with some clear periods, though perhaps cloudier across eastern Lanarkshire. Chilly with a grass frost possible in some rural spots, Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Saturday:

A good deal of dry weather with the best of the sunshine towards the west coast. Cloud building inland perhaps bringing the odd light shower. A bit colder. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Mainly dry with some sunny spells on Sunday, some light rain in evening. Monday dry and bright then some patchy evening rain. Sunny intervals and showers on Tuesday.

Changeable and at times rather unsettled conditions look to dominate through the middle part of May, with low pressure often close by. This means periods of rain or showers, some of which could be heavy, for many places, though some drier interludes are also expected. For the most part, temperatures are likely to be close to or perhaps a little below normal, with winds often blowing from a northwesterly quadrant. By the end of this period, pressure may increase towards the southwest, which could bring more in the way of dry weather here.

Low pressure systems are likely to still be close by to north or northeast of the UK at the start of this period, with a continuation of changeable and at times windy conditions most likely here. There will however, probably be some dry and warm interludes, these more likely towards the south initially, but these may become rather more widespread through the latter part of this period. Temperatures through the latter part of May and into early June may end up being above average overall.
