Cloudy and patchy rain soon clearing away eastwards this morning. Then mainly dry with bright spells although a few showers developing this afternoon, mainly Argyll. Freshening southwesterly winds across Mull. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Tonight:

Central Belt and the south having a mainly dry evening and night. Argyll will be cloudier with a few showers. Fresh southwesterly winds along coastal Argyll. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Monday:

Dry in the south but a showers across Argyll, and the Central Belt at first. Some bright spells but rather cloudy. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Scattered showers on Tuesday, slow moving and heavy by afternoon. Drier on Wednesday with fewer showers. Early rain on Thursday then dry.

A drier start to July for most. Cloudier towards the west, otherwise a good deal of sunshine for most. Some northwestern parts may still see rain on occasion, perhaps accompanied by strong winds at times. Temperatures are likely to start off near average in the north and slightly warmer than average in the south, but fairly widely tending to increase further as high pressure dominates the weather into the second week of July, especially across England and Wales.

High pressure is looking slightly more likely than low pressure during the early part of this period, meaning a greater chance of settled and drier than average conditions. Outbreaks of rain and stronger are possible at times, these more likely further north. As normal for the time of year, there is still a chance of some heavy and thundery showers which may interrupt any warm and settled weather. Towards the end of July there is no reliable signal for preferring any one weather pattern over another. However, temperatures are likely to be above normal on the whole, with a greater than normal chance of hot conditions developing at times.
