Increasingly cloudy this evening with the chance of a few spots of light rain. Later in the night, clearer spells and isolated showers develop, accompanied by freshening winds. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Saturday:

Rather cloudy at first, with patchy light rain spreading southeast during the morning. Then turning drier and brighter into the afternoon with a few light scattered showers. Fresh winds easing. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Bright or sunny spells on Sunday with the odd shower, but many places dry. Fairly unsettled and changeable Monday and Tuesday with the risk of rain or showers.

A changeable period is likely to start, with many areas seeing a mixture of bright or sunny spells and some rain at times. Northwestern areas are more likely to see the focus of rainfall, but elsewhere outbreaks of showers or thunderstorms may interrupt the dry conditions at times elsewhere. Confidence becomes lower into the start of August, but there are hints that more settled conditions could return for a time, which would mean dry conditions resuming, especially in the south. Winds will be mostly light or moderate, but occasionally fresh or strong around some coasts, mainly in the north and west. Temperatures will be broadly above normal and will probably be warm or even hot at times in the south.

Settled and dry weather will probably dominate through much of August, especially across the south. Some spells of rain are still likely at times, especially across northern and western areas. Although many areas may see mainly dry weather for the much of the period, occasional summertime thunderstorms are possible on some days. Temperatures will very likely remain above normal, with potential for further hot spells, particularly in the south.
