Fresh west to northwest winds bringing showers across the area today. Outbreaks ranging from frequent in Argyll, and scattered elsewhere with the best of the limited brighter spells appearing in the Central Belt. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

A rather cloudy evening with further showers, these focused across Argyll. Clear spells developing overnight, particularly from the Central Belt southwards where showers die out. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Sunday:

Most enjoying a dry day with good sunny spells and light winds, with the Central Belt particularly favoured and warm. However, sunshine increasingly turning hazy into the afternoon. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Most dry during Monday, with hazy sunshine. However, occasional areas of rain crossing the area from the southwest from late Monday and through Tuesday and Wednesday.

The first few days of this period are likely to see something of a northwest-southeast split in the weather across the UK. Areas towards the north and west are most likely to often be cloudier, with spells of rain, some of which could be heavy and accompanied by breezy conditions. Further southeast, a greater chance of drier conditions, although given the potential for high temperatures and high humidity, there is the possibility of some thunderstorms breaking out as well. Towards late June, there is a signal for more widely settled conditions to develop with high pressure more likely to dominate, with temperatures probably remaining above average for most.

High pressure is expected to lie close to the UK at the start of this period, bringing largely settled and dry conditions. Temperatures will likely be above normal, with the potential for hot conditions to develop, especially in the south. Further into July, the influence of high pressure may weaken or shift more to the north or west of the UK, bringing an increasing chance of more unsettled weather and thunderstorms, especially in the south. Temperatures will probably ease back closer to normal too, although some warm and humid spells remain possible at times.
