It will stay dry through the morning with some bright spells. Turning cloudier through the afternoon as a band of rain spread north-eastwards bringing some heavy downpours at times. Becoming windy in the afternoon with a risk of coastal gales. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

A cloudy evening as the band of heavy rain clears to the north. Remaining cloudy overnight with heavy showers breaking out. Blustery at first but winds soon easing. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Monday:

A cloudy day with limited bright spells. Scattered showers throughout the day, some of which will be heavy. Winds strengthening near the coasts later in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Bright spells and showers on Tuesday. Cloudy with rain spreading northwards on Wednesday. Sunny spells with showers, some heavy, on Thursday. Strong winds Wednesday and Thursday.

Likely a continuation of the unsettled theme to begin. All areas are likely to see spells of wet and windy weather followed by drier and brighter but still showery interludes. The wettest conditions expected to be across western parts of the country. There are signs that through the course of this period, drier spells will start to become more prolonged, especially across the south and east of the country due to a greater influence of high pressure. Some wet and windy spells remain probable but these potentially more focused in the northwest. Temperatures likely around average early in this period and often feeling rather cool given unsettled conditions. Increased chance of some warmer spells later in the period.

Signals for prevailing weather patterns become fairly limited by the turn of the month and the early part of October. As is typical at this time of year, there are likely to be some spells of wet and windy weather along with some drier interludes but no strong preference to whether settled or unsettled regimes will be most dominant. Overall, northwestern parts are more likely to be wettest and windiest. Temperatures likely fluctuating around average.
