Winds and showers easing today as Storm Eowyn clears northwards.

Today:

Storm Eowyn passing northwards, slowly easing winds. Rather cloudy start with showers, more frequent across western parts of Tayside and Central, before dwindling from mid-morning, also turning wintry to relatively low levels. Best shelter towards coast where many stay dry. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

Rain, sleet, snow showers feeding from the southwest, with best of shelter in Angus. Brisk southwest winds touching near gale across the coast. Some Icy patches. Minimum temperature -3 °C.

Sunday:

Some showers early in west, but most staying dry with brighter spells increasing during the morning, then waning in afternoon as higher cloud increases from the south. Winds occasionally strengthening. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Showers or longer periods of rain and occasionally windy for Monday and Tuesday, then more settled conditions for Wednesday.

An unsettled start to the period with a further area of low pressure likely to bring some rain into the UK, perhaps heaviest in the south while the north is more likely to see a mix of drier interludes and showers. Once this feature clears we see a trend toward more settled conditions, and for much of the UK these likely to continue to the end of the period, although the extreme northwest may see further spells of rain and strong winds at times. Temperatures overall are likely to end up being around or slightly above average, though wind and rain will make it feel chilly at first. As conditions become more settled there is an increases risk of overnight frost and fog.

Generally mild at first, with periods of rain, showers and strong winds alternating with short-lived brighter and cooler interludes. Any rain and strong winds are more likely to affect northern parts during this period though, with pressure possibly building across southern areas in particular. This would result in longer drier and more-settled spells here, albeit with an increased chance of overnight fog and frost. Temperatures probably close to average with any colder interludes expected to be brief.
