A mostly cloudy morning with the odd spot of light rain possible around eastern coasts, but predominately dry. A dry afternoon with cloud breaking up to allow bright and sunny spells to break through. Light winds. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Tonight:

Dry with some sunny spells at first but generally turning cloudier through the evening. Remaining largely dry and cloudy overnight with some clearer intervals, these mostly in the west. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Tuesday:

A dry start with sunny spells. Any cloud gradually breaking up through the day to give largely clear skies and plenty of sunshine in the afternoon. Warmer than recent days. Maximum temperature 25 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

A largely dry and settled few days with the odd spot of rain possible at times. Cloudy at times but still plenty of bright or sunny spells on offer.

Dry on Friday for most with sunny spells. Northern and northwestern areas will be cloudier with occasional patchy rain or drizzle. Into the weekend and perhaps the start of next week, more unsettled weather with rain at times, especially across northern parts of the UK. This rain may very well reach southern areas too, but could become more light and patchy here. Confidence becomes lower as we approach the turn of the month, but there are signs that high pressure will return, which means dry conditions would resume, especially in the south. Winds will be mostly light or moderate, occasionally fresh around northern coasts. Temperatures are expected to be near or above normal, warmest in the south, perhaps becoming very warm again by the start of August.

Higher pressure is considered generally more likely than lower pressure through August. This means settled and dry weather will likely prevail, especially across the south. There still could be rain at times across northern parts, but should become less frequent where dry and warm conditions extend northwards. Although most areas may see dry weather for the much of the period, occasional summertime thunderstorms are possible on some days given the right ingredients. Winds are expected to be generally light or moderate, and occasionally fresh around coastal areas. Temperatures will very likely remain above normal, with potential for further hot spells, particularly in the south.
