Rise in carbon dioxide off track for limiting global warming to 1.5°C
The increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO₂) is now incompatible with IPCC pathways which remain below 1.5°C, a Met Office study finds.

A widely frosty start with localised freezing fog patches gradually clearing through the morning. Otherwise a mainly dry day with plenty of sunshine, though western areas and parts of Northumberland will often be cloudier. Occasionally breezy in upland areas. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
Variable, often large amounts of cloud overnight but extensively dry. Rather cold overall, some frost and perhaps freezing fog patches developing where clearer skies persist. Mainly light winds. Minimum temperature -1 °C.
Most places dry though rather cloudy at first. Cloud tending to thin and break through the day for many areas leaving good spells of sunshine. Winds generally light. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
Cold with clear or sunny spells on Sunday and Monday. Widespread overnight frosts and some freezing fog likely. Temperatures recovering by Tuesday though turning cloudier with some rain possible.
