A dry night but turning more unsettled into next week.

This Evening and Tonight:

Any lingering daytime showers easing this evening to leave a largely dry night with clear spells. Turning chilly for many with light winds and a few mist patches possible. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Sunday:

A warm, dry and bright day with plenty of sunny spells and light winds. Clouding over in the evening perhaps with some outbreaks of rain. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Turning very warm and humid from Monday with an increasing chance of showers. These heavy and potentially thundery at times. Feeling very warm in the sunny spells and light winds.

A generally changeable period looks likely and many places are likely to see some rain or showers at times, interspersed with drier and sunnier spells. Many areas will start with a few drier days, although there will be some showers in the north. There is, however, a chance that deeper low pressure brings more widespread unsettled conditions for a time. Into mid August more changeable or unsettled conditions probably become prevalent. This may be due to Atlantic frontal systems or thundery plumes moving north from the continent or a combination of both. Temperatures will likely be a little above average, and there is the potential for some very warm or hot and humid spells, especially in the south, although perhaps not the heat we have seen in recent weeks.

It will probably be changeable to start the period, with spells of unsettled weather interspersed with some drier interludes. Later into August it will most likely turn predominantly dry and settled, as high pressure patterns seem likely to influence the UK. This may be interrupted at times by Atlantic frontal systems, especially in the north, or by thunderstorms in the south. Nonetheless, overall rainfall amounts will likely be below normal. Temperatures will probably be above normal and some spells of hot weather and heatwaves are possible, especially in the south.
