This Evening and Tonight:

Widespread rain during the early evening, with some heavy bursts, but soon clearing to the east. Some clear spells overnight, but remaining very windy, with the occasional heavy shower rattling through. Further persistent rain arriving by dawn. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Saturday:

Early rain clearing to a mixture of sunny spells and heavy blustery showers, these mainly in the west of the region. Remaining very windy throughout. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Generally unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain, but also some brighter spells. Often windy, although less so than Friday and Saturday. Mild.

A broadly westerly pattern to start, maintaining relatively mild conditions, especially by night, with some weaker frontal systems moving in from the Atlantic. These will bring further spells of rain or drizzle at times, most likely affecting northern and western areas. Eastern areas generally look drier. By the weekend (11/12 October), there is a signal for pressure to build from the west or southwest of the UK, this means mostly lighter winds and settled for the bulk of the UK with only a risk of wet and at times windy weather for the north or east at the weekend. Under the settled conditions variable amounts of cloud, but fog an increasing risk where skies remain clear, possibly turning cooler later in the period as winds come from the east.

The latter half of October will see a transition to more widely unsettled conditions once more, though the timing of this remains unclear. Whether this takes the form of successive depressions moving in from the Atlantic or a rather slower evolving weather pattern remains to be seen, but there is a greater chance of more places seeing more frequent spells of rain or showers and possibly strong winds later in the month. Temperatures probably close to average overall.
