Overnight rain continuing through the morning, with the odd heavy burst in places, before clearing into the afternoon. Some warm sunny spells following and largely dry, although an isolated shower possible. Rather breezy at times, easing later. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Tonight:

Dry for the first half of the night. Clear periods at first but thickening cloud will bring outbreaks of rain to the west towards daybreak. Light winds will strengthen later. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Monday:

Wet and very windy Monday morning due to Storm Floris. The rain clearing to largely dry, bright conditions in the afternoon but winds remaining very blustery. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Tuesday, windy with sunny spells and occasional blustery showers. Winds ease Wednesday, largely dry with sunny spells. Breezier Thursday, band of rain moving east, brighter later. Temperatures trending warmer later.

A frontal system will likely lead to spells of rain and showers, especially to the north and west, which may be locally heavy. The rain will spread east across the UK but there may however be some drier and sunny spells in the east at first. A changeable westerly pattern will then continue for a time with spells of rain or showers but there will likely be some drier, brighter interludes, especially in the south and east. Temperatures will mainly be near average. As we move towards the middle of the month, there is an increased chance of high pressure becoming more dominant, leading to drier, more settled conditions becoming more widespread and above average temperatures. However, some brief unsettled spells remain possible.

High pressure, and therefore fairly settled conditions overall, appears most likely for the second half of August. The northwest may see more in the way of occasional rain or showers than other areas. Elsewhere, predominantly dry weather is likely to dominate, although periods of showers and thunderstorms may break out. Above average temperatures overall seem most likely, with the potential for hot spells to develop, especially in the east and south.
