Today:

Bright with a scattering of showers, the showers mainly in the north and east, these wintry on hills. Best of the sunshine for Skye and Lochaber. Chilly northeast winds. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

Clear spells and a few showers through the evening, these wintry over the hills. Showers become less frequent overnight. A frost developing in rural areas and more sheltered glens. Minimum temperature -2 °C.

Saturday:

It will be mainly dry and bright on Saturday but we may still see the odd shower in the morning. A widespread frost likely to develop on Saturday night. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

A cold few days with a scattering of showers, increasingly wintry through Monday and Tuesday. Chance of more unsettled weather on Tuesday. Chilly northerly winds, strong at times.

Colder conditions, already affecting the far north of the UK are likely to extend south to affect all pasts through the early part of the period. Initially we may see some less cold conditions with some cloud, rain and possibly hill snow affecting parts of the west. It is as this clears later Tuesday that the colder conditions will extend south, bringing some snow showers into northern parts, and the first frosts of the season for many parts of the south. Later in the period there is increasing uncertainty, but a trend towards more changeable conditions is possible, with some rain or showers in places, and perhaps some hill snow at times in the north. Temperatures overall likely to return to near-average.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November are very uncertain, there is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the current weather pattern, which also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost. There will probably still be some spells of rain, showers, and stronger winds though, especially in the west. Hill snow is also a possibility, mainly in the north. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
