Today:

Often cloudy with showery outbreaks of rain, some may be on the heavy side in the west. A few brighter spells too with a few sunny intervals, the best of the dry bright weather around the Moray Firth. Quite breezy. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Tonight:

There will be a mixture of clear intervals and showers, these more frequent over the Northwest Highlands in the evening and early night. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Friday:

Bright or sunny spells and scattered showers, these more frequent in the far northwest. Lighter winds. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Sunny intervals and scattered showers on Saturday. Cloudy with outbreaks of rain spreading in on Sunday. Brighter with a few showers on Monday.

Changeable and at times rather unsettled conditions look to dominate through the middle part of May, with low pressure often close by. This means periods of rain or showers, some of which could be heavy, for many places, though some drier interludes are also expected. For the most part, temperatures are likely to be close to or perhaps a little below normal, though depending on the position of low pressure relative to the UK, there is the chance of brief warmer mroe humid interludes extending north from the near continent. With this would be the chance of some thunderstorms, these most likely affecting parts of England and Wales.

Low pressure systems are likely to still be close by to the UK at the start of this period. This means showers or longer spells of rain are likely at times, these heavy in places, with the wettest conditions probably towards the northwest by this stage. There will, however, probably be some dry and warm interludes, these more likely towards the south, although temperatures are likely to be close to normal overall. Later in the period, more settled and drier conditions may develop, as high pressure establishes itself over or to the west of the UK, with temperatures perhaps rising a little above normal, especially in the west. Should this happen, eastern parts may be on the cool side with a predominant flow off the North Sea.
