Today:

A bright day with some sunny spells along with a few showers, the best of the dry weather towards Inverness and Nairn. Showers gradually dying out through the late afternoon. Lighter winds than recent days. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

The odd shower possible at first but otherwise a dry evening with late sunshine. Cloud and rain spread northeast through the night, heaviest in the west. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Thursday:

A cloudy and wet morning with some heavy rain. Some brighter spells may develop towards Inverness and Nairn through the afternoon with a few showers, otherwise staying wet and cloudy. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Cloudy with rain or showers Friday morning, becoming drier with brighter spells later. Then a dry start on Saturday before rain spreads northeast. Rain or showers on Sunday. Occasionally windy.

Continuing changeable with further frontal systems running east into the UK bringing further spells of rain, with showery interludes in-between. Strong winds may also develop at times, particularly towards the northwest. With time, the signs are that systems will increasingly track to the northwest of the country, with the south probably starting to see longer, drier interludes while the northwest continues to see more in the way of rain and at times strong winds, Temperatures are expected to be around or a little above normal overall, but will be cooler in any prolonged periods of rainfall. Meanwhile, there is the possibility of some very warm or even hot conditions developing later in this period, especially in the south, and these bring with them the chance of thunderstorms.

Changeable weather across the UK with a mixture of Atlantic weather systems moving in from the west interspersed with dry and sunny periods. Wetter conditions tending to be towards the northwest of the UK, with the south and southeast likely to see more in the way of dry weather, Temperatures are most likely to be near or slightly above normal, perhaps with some hot spells at times, especially across the south. Any hot spells may be accompanied by an increased chance of thunderstorms though.
