Today:

Dry and frosty with sunny spells at first. Cloud will spread north through the afternoon but it will stay dry as the southerly wind strengthens. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Tonight:

Clouding over through the evening. Mostly dry in the north and east with the odd spot of rain, occasionally heavy outbreaks of rain in the west. Strong southeast coastal wind. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Wednesday:

Cloudy at first as bands of rain push northeast. Showers follow from the west, some heavy and thundery. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Showers continue Thursday, heavy at times. A further rain band pushes northeast Friday with showers following later. Showers or longer spells of rain on Saturday. Windy at times.

A few showers around at the start of the period, mainly affecting the northwest where it will also be windy for a time. For many though the weekend should be fine and dry with spells of warm sunshine, but still some chilly nights. Into the following week fronts associated with another Atlantic low will try to push into the UK, but may struggle to make inroads against an area of high pressure to the northeast. So the greater chance of some rain is for western areas, while northern and eastern areas may well see plenty of dry weather. Temperatures likely remaining above average.

The dominant pattern during this period is most likely to be high pressure (or higher than average pressure) to the north and lower pressure to the south. This will probably lead to drier and more settled than normal weather in the north or northwest of the UK, with the south and possibly east more unsettled and wetter than normal. Temperatures will probably be close to or slightly above average overall.
