Cloudy in the morning with rain spreading to Argyll, mainly dry elsewhere. Brighter spells possible for a time around midday before persistent rain, occasionally heavy, will extend east through the afternoon. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy with outbreaks of heavy rain spreading east through the evening. Further outbreaks of heavy rain overnight, perhaps thundery for a time, turning more showery towards morning. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Tuesday:

Bright spells and scattered showers from the northwest through the day, occasionally heavy and thundery at first, lighter and more isolated later in the day. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Showers Wednesday morning, becoming mostly dry and bright by midday. A band of heavy rain pushes east Wednesday evening. Frequent heavy showers Thursday, easing Friday morning, then further rain later.

The weather will remain changeable. Occasional rain or showers will push in from the North Atlantic, most frequent across northern and western parts of the UK, accompanied by strong winds at times. However, there will also be some reasonably dry and more settled periods in between these systems, especially across southern areas. There is a chance settled weather may expand further northwards during the final week of September. Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall, but there is scope for some rather warm days at times, as well as relatively cool nights which may bring the occasional grass frost.

Most likely remaining changeable, with further spells of rain and showers arriving from the North Atlantic. Strong winds possible too at times, these most frequent across the north and west. Some short-lived settled spells are also possible, these most likely in the south. Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall.
