Cloud and patchy rain soon clearing this morning. Then bright spells with the odd shower in the west, east mainly dry. Brisk southwesterly winds, becoming strong in the northwest this afternoon. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy in the northwest with some showery rain overnight. Otherwise a dry night elsewhere with clear periods. Strong southwesterly winds in the northwest gradually easing down. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Monday:

Some bright or sunny spells with a few showers in the west. Staying largely dry across the east. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Patchy rain on Tuesday morning, a few heavy and slow moving showers breaking out in the afternoon. A few afternoon showers on Wednesday. Rain followed by showers on Thursday.

Some rain is possible across Scotland on Friday, easing as it spreads south and east before clearing away. High pressure will dominate across England and Wales over the weekend, bringing dry and warm conditions with plenty of sunshine for most. Scotland and Northern Ireland will probably see more cloud this weekend, with periods of rain mainly affecting western Scotland at times. Into the following working week, high pressure remains slow moving over England and Wales, perhaps extending northwards to bring drier and warmer weather to Scotland and Northern Ireland. Winds will be light to moderate for most, though stronger around northern hills and coasts near low pressure systems. Temperatures will rise through the period, perhaps becoming very warm or hot in places.

High pressure is looking slightly more likely than low pressure during the early part of this period, meaning a greater chance of settled and drier than average conditions. Outbreaks of rain and stronger are possible at times, these more likely further north. As normal for the time of year, there is still a chance of some heavy and thundery showers which may interrupt any warm and settled weather. Towards the end of July there is no reliable signal for preferring any one weather pattern over another. However, temperatures are likely to be above normal on the whole, with a greater than normal chance of hot conditions developing at times.
