Today:

The day will be cloudy and windy with outbreaks of rain. The rain will stay patchy in the east soon becoming persistent and heavy across western parts. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

The night will stay cloudy with rain the west persistent and heavy. Eastern parts continue mostly dry and the wind gradually eases down overnight. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Saturday:

Little change Saturday when rain continues in the west, heavy at times as eastern parts stay mostly dry. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Rain in the west will turn showery as Sunday becomes brighter. Monday and Tuesday continue mostly dry and bright with the chance of an odd shower along western coasts.

Likely a fairly cool start to the period with a few showers still to clear from the east, but for most it should become fine and dry, although some chilly mornings are possible. Through the rest of the week any rain will tend to focus on the north or northwest of the country, with the south becoming predominantly dry. Temperatures are likely to remain close to, perhaps a little below average initially. However through the second half of the week and especially the following weekend there are signs that temperatures will begin to trend up, becoming warm or very warm once again, especially across southern parts of the UK, but perhaps more widely as we head toward the middle of July.

Changeable conditions with a predominantly northwest to southeast split in temperature and rainfall, and the potential for further occasional episodes of hot weather and thundery outbreaks, are considered likely to gradually give way to something more settled and dry overall through the second half of July. Temperatures are likely to be above average, with the greatest chance of very warm or hot spells in the south or southeast.
