A largely cloudy day with very limited bright or sunny spells. Dry for many but with some patchy light rain and drizzle in the north and over the Isles. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Largely dry and cloudy on Friday and Saturday with some sunny intervals. Winds strengthening on Saturday before it turns more unsettled with stronger winds and rain spreading northwards on Sunday.

Later in the period, there may be a transition to a slightly cooler and more showery northwesterly regime, as high pressure builds over the Atlantic to the west, and low pressure becomes centred to the east of the UK. Temperatures are likely to be near or slightly above average overall, although may trend slightly below normal later

Into November, an unsettled pattern is anticipated, as low pressure systems over the Atlantic track across the UK. These may be shifted farther south than normal, bringing showers or longer spells of rain fairly widely, perhaps also accompanied by some strong winds at times. Temperatures will probably be close to or slightly above average overall.
