Today:

Frequent showers or longer spells of rain feed in from the northwest through the day, heavy and thundery at times. Best of any brighter spells in the east later in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

Scattered showers in the evening, the odd heavy one at first. A few showers continue overnight but lighter and more isolated with increasing clear spells. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Wednesday:

A few light showers in the morning, but increasingly dry with sunny spells. Gradually cloudier with some showers in afternoon then a band of heavy rain pushes east in evening. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Frequent heavy and blustery showers on Thursday. Showers easing Friday morning with bright spells, then further rain spreading east later. Bright spells and scattered showers on Saturday.

The weather will remain changeable. Occasional rain or showers will push in from the North Atlantic, most frequent across northern and western parts of the UK, accompanied by strong winds at times. However, there will also be some reasonably dry and more settled periods in between these systems, especially across southern areas. There is a chance settled weather may expand further northwards during the final week of September. Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall, but there is scope for some rather warm days at times, as well as relatively cool nights which may bring the occasional grass frost.

A changeable theme is likely to continue, with further spells of rain and showers arriving from the North Atlantic, perhaps accompanied by strong winds at times. These are more likely to affect northern and western parts, but could also affect the wider UK if such systems push east or southeastwards. Some settled spells are also possible during this period, these most likely in the south. Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall.
