Any early brightness in the east soon fading with thickening cloud and patchy rain developing during the morning. The odd heavy burst in the afternoon but turning drier and brighter again by evening. Windy at times. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

Occasional showers this evening, these most widespread through the Trossachs and west. Mainly dry overnight with isolated showers in the west, clear skies at times across Dundee and the east. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Friday:

It will be mainly dry and bright with some sunny spells. A scattering of showers developing and winds mainly moderate from the west or southwest. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Wet and windy early on Saturday, turning drier and brighter from the west. Mainly dry and bright on Sunday then cloudy with outbreaks of rain on Monday.

Remaining changeable, with occasional rain or showers arriving from the North Atlantic, most frequent across northern and western parts of the UK, where some strong winds will also be possible at times. However, there will also be some reasonable dry and more settled periods, especially across southern areas. Later in the month, high pressure may become more dominant in the vicinity of the UK, perhaps bringing more widely settled conditions for a time, especially away from the far north. Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall, but there is scope for some rather warm days at times, along with occasional relatively cool nights.

High pressure initially close to the UK, with a continuation of more settled conditions at times, may start to weaken its influence on the weather later in the month and into early October. As a result, it may become more changeable with a greater chance of rain or showers in places, and perhaps some strong winds at times too. Temperatures will likely be a little above average overall, with relatively cool nights possible at first tending to reduce in frequency later in the period.
