Headline:

Bright spells, a few early showers then dry. Becoming windy.

Today:

The chance of a few showers at first otherwise the day will be dry with bright spells. Cloud will increase as strengthening winds spread east during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

Windy with coastal gales. A band of locally heavy rain will move in from the west from the evening, clearing east before dawn. Showers follow in the west later. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Tuesday:

Windy conditions continue. Cloudy with frequent showers, heavy in the west for a time becoming brighter in the afternoon with showers easing later. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Windy Wednesday with easing winds Thursday and Friday. Scattered showers become frequent and heavy for a time Wednesday night. Cool.

Changeable conditions are expected to continue into this period. All areas seeing showers or longer spells of rain at times as Atlantic systems move across the country which also bring the potential for strong winds. Early in this period, wet weather is likely to be more focused across southern parts before the focus of wetter weather returns to the northwest. Towards the middle of June, there is an increased chance that high pressure will become more dominant, at least in the south. This would result in some longer periods of drier weather, however, unsettled spells remain likely. Following a rather cool start to this period, there is a greater chance of warmer spells towards mid-June.

Changeable weather is most likely across the UK with a mixture of Atlantic weather systems moving in from the west interspersed with dry and sunny periods, perhaps with a bias towards longer dry spells early in the period. Temperatures are most likely to be near or slightly above normal, perhaps with some hot spells at times especially across the south.
