Today:

It will be mainly dry and bright with some warm sunny spells. Isolated showers at first and the sunshine turning hazy at times with thickening cloud and the odd shower possible across Eilean Siar and Sutherland in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

Mainly dry with the best of the evening sunshine around Inverness, Nairn and the Black Isle. Cloudier further west, perhaps the odd shower with patchy drizzle across the hills. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Monday:

Some drier and brighter spells in the morning around Inverness and the east. Otherwise mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain, heavy at times. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Plenty of dry and settled conditions with some warm sunshine. The odd shower around, but dry for most with light winds. Patchy rain possible across the Northwest on Thursday.

There is a chance of heavy, thundery rain affecting parts of England and Wales at first, but otherwise turning widely cooler and fresher with sunshine and just a few showers. Generally speaking, high pressure is more likely to dominate through the first part of July, bringing plenty of fine weather, particularly across southern areas of the UK. Into the second week of the month, a gradual transition to rather more changeable conditions is forecast to take place, especially further to the northwest. Here, showers or some longer spells of rain are possible, along with breezier conditions at times. The drier, brighter and warmer conditions are more likely to hang on in southeastern areas for longer.

Changeable conditions are most likely through the middle part of the month, with showers or longer spells of rain, but also some drier, brighter interludes. Areas towards the northwest are more likely to see the wettest conditions, whereas those towards the southeast stand a greater chance of longer drier periods. However, there is also the chance of occasional thundery outbreaks, which could bring heavy rainfall to any part of the UK. There are hints that more widely drier conditions may develop by the latter part of the month. Overall, temperatures are forecast to be above average, with the greatest chance of very warm or hot spells in the south or southeast.
