Rather dull this morning with rain turning light and patchy. Still cloudy across the north this afternoon with some patchy rain, but southern Aberdeenshire will be dry with the chance of some brightness. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Chance of the odd shower this evening otherwise dry. The rest of the night will be dry with variable cloud and a few fog patches. Chilly where skies remain clear. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Tuesday:

A cloudy day with some showery rain moving east at times, best of the drier weather towards the east coast. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Dry with some brightness Wednesday, the odd shower across the west later. Chance of rain on Thursday, especially in the east. Cold and windy with a few showers Friday.

Remaining unsettled to start the period as an area of low pressure clears into the North Sea. Outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, and strong winds will likely ease through Friday as the low continues to move eastwards. This will leave a colder northerly flow for a time at the weekend which will be showery around the coasts but with sunny spells inland. Into the following week, conditions are expected to be changeable with showers or longer spells of rain across many parts of the UK. The cold northerly will likely give way to a more changeable westerly pattern and the wettest weather will probably be in parts of the north and west. Temperatures are expected to be close to or slightly below normal for the time of year.
