A day of variable cloud and bright spells with more frequent showers, some on the heavy side, best of the brighter spells towards Inverbervie and the east coast. Fresh to strong westerly winds. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

Quite cloudy with scattered showers at first, these largely fading out through the evening and overnight to allow clear spells to develop. The odd shower persisting towards Fraserburgh and Peterhead. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Sunday:

A few light showers around Fraserburgh and Peterhead at first. Otherwise a dry day with sunny spells and light winds. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Cloudier Monday with patchy rain. Early rain clearing Tuesday morning then sunshine and showers, windy at times. Windy on Wednesday with bright spells, variable cloud and some outbreaks of rain.

The weather is expected to remain changeable. Low pressure systems will continue to run across the North Atlantic, often to the north and northwest of the UK, bringing occasional bands of rain and strong winds, interspersed with brighter and more showery conditions. Rain will be most prevalent across hills in the west and northwest, where above average rainfall is likely through this period. Longer drier interludes are more favoured in southern and eastern parts, but even here there will probably be more rain over the period compared to recent weeks. Whilst brief cooler interludes and early morning frosts are possible, temperatures are likely to be a little above normal in many areas for the period as a whole, and potentially quite mild at times during wetter and windier spells.

The remainder of October and into early November will probably maintain a changeable pattern overall, with areas of low pressure often passing close to if not across the UK from the North Atlantic, interspersed by occasional ridges of high pressure. As such, showers or longer spells of rain are likely at times, with the wettest and windiest weather typically in the west and northwest, driest conditions more favoured in sheltered southern and eastern parts, and perhaps more widely initially. A trend to more widely unsettled conditions is possible into November. Whilst some occasional colder interludes will be possible at times, temperatures are likely to be near or a little above average for the period as a whole.
