Any early mist or fog patches lifting. Another rather cloudy day follows with only very limited brighter intervals and most parts staying dry. Although the odd spot of drizzle cannot be ruled out. Light winds expected, with temperatures near normal. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Tonight:

Variable cloud and perhaps some clearer spells, allowing the odd patch of fog to form. Periods of coastal mist or fog are also possible. Light winds. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Friday:

Little change is expected, with variable cloud and some brighter or sunny spells, but also one or two spots of drizzle possible, mainly along eastern coasts. Winds will remain light. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Fine, but turning breezier Saturday, with early sunny spells, before cloud thickens later. Windy Sunday, with rain moving east during the afternoon, occasionally heavy. Sunshine and heavy showers follow Monday.

The unsettled weather looks to continue, with areas of low pressure running in from the west or southwest. This means further spells of rain or showers, possibly accompanied by strong winds at times, with one particular watch point for this in the first couple of days of this period. That said, some drier interludes are still probable, though the duration of these much shorter than the predominantly dry spell at present. Temperatures probably near normal overall, but day-to-day values high dependent on the track of any lows. Later in the period, there may be a transition to a slightly cooler and more showery northwesterly regime, as high pressure builds over the Atlantic and low pressure becomes centred to the east of the UK.

It is likely to be changeable at first, with a showery northwesterly regime most favoured across the UK. Into November, an unsettled pattern is anticipated, as low pressure systems over the Atlantic track across the UK. These may be shifted farther south than normal, bringing showers or longer spells of rain fairly widely, perhaps also accompanied by some strong winds at times. Temperatures will probably be close to or slightly above average overall.
