This Evening and Tonight:

Any showers fading to leave a largely dry night with lengthy clear spells, although chance of a few coastal showers lingering. Turning chilly inland with light winds and a patchy frost in prone rural spots. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Saturday:

Largely dry and bright, after a chilly start. Cloud increasing from the west during the late afternoon, bringing some outbreaks of rain across all parts through the evening. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Rain clearing early Sunday then drier and brighter. Chance of showers later. Monday, variable cloud and showers. Rain and strong winds overnight, clearing Tuesday morning. Showers following and breezy.

Changeable conditions are expected at first, with low pressure often close by to the north of the UK, bringing rain and showers. However, high pressure from the south is expected to quickly start to build near to the UK towards the Bank Holiday weekend, bringing some fine and dry conditions, with temperatures rising accordingly for some. Thereafter, high pressure is expected to broadly remain the dominant influence across much of the UK, with spells of fine weather. Low pressure will be positioned to the north, and will at times allow some rain or showers to cross the country. Overall across the period, temperatures are expected to be above normal with winds often light for many.

Whilst further rain and showers are possible at times, there is also likely to be spells of fine and dry weather. Patterns which bring more settled weather are more likely to dominate through the turn of the month across southern areas with more unsettled spells of weather likely to be focused further north. Into June, more mixed conditions are likely with spells of rain and showers, but also some drier weather at times. Temperatures are most likely to be near or slightly above average overall, with some warm weather possible at times.
