Today:

Wednesday will be dry and settled across the region with lots of sunshine developing, once any early patches of mist clear. It will feel very hot in the afternoon, with only a very light breeze blowing. Maximum temperature 35 °C.

Tonight:

There'll be plenty more hot sunshine to end the day, and clear periods are then likely this evening. However, patchy cloud will gradually edge in from the northwest overnight. Minimum temperature 16 °C.

Thursday:

Some early bright spells, but cloud will continue to feed across the region on Thursday morning, with the small chance of a shower developing. Sunshine returning later, but feeling fresher. Maximum temperature 27 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

It looks largely dry on Friday and during the weekend. Though remaining a little cooler and fresher there will be some very warm sunshine at times, with gentle winds.

Mostly dry away from the north and northwest initially, where scattered showers are expected. There is a chance that some other western parts could see some rain by the end of the weekend. Temperatures ranging from around average in the NW to warm in the southeast, perhaps becoming very warm in the southeast through the weekend. It will probably become more changeable thereafter, with potential for an area of low pressure to move close to or across the UK early in August. This could bring spells of heavy rain and perhaps some strong winds for some areas. It may become more settled again towards the end of the first week of August.

Dry and settled conditions will probably dominate much of this period with high pressure patterns tending to affect the UK. This may be interrupted at times by Atlantic frontal systems, especially in the north, or thunderstorms in the south. However, overall rainfall amounts will likely be below normal. Temperatures will probably be above normal and some spells of hot weather and heatwaves are possible, especially in the south.
